Description - A Vigorous, evergreen shrub with an upright growth habit. Grown for its showy flower bracts, which develop on the ends of the stems and start to colour in late summer, intensifying to rich wine red during winter.
Uses - The coloured bracts are ideal for cutting while the plants are suitable for garden beds and border planning.
Position - Grow in a sunny position in freely draining, acid soil. Tolerates drought once established.
Care - Prune after flowering to maintain compact growth. Avoid root disturbance.
Planting - Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill the hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
